To find out about the personal and professional development of the students of the School of Computer Engineering, students should know something about the characteristics of university life in our School of Engineering.
In the School of Computer Engineering, according to the guidelines of San Jorge University, we carry out a personal mentoring program covering two fundamental aspects; academic and human. All lecturers are assigned a small number of students with the aim of helping them to develop and to achieve success in an efficient and effective way.
Parallel to this, all teachers organize tutorials corresponding to their subjects.
In both cases, teachers try to facilitate, according to their timetable and availability, the attention necessary for their students to improve their performance.
Students who have excelled in physics and mathematics in their pre-university studies are eligible for one of the School of Engineering’s ‘Tecnobeca’ grants. To obtain a Tecnobeca grant, the student must have a grade in physics and mathematics of over 8/10. This grant awarded by San Jorge University provides important financial assistance.
The aim of these Tecnobecas is to get the most brilliant students to start their studies in the School of Computer Engineering in San Jorge University.
Last academic year, 2008-2009, two students, María Martín Civiac and Pedro Caamaño Pérez (in the pictures below, during the physics seminar held in February 2009were awarded a Tecnobeca.

Since it was created, the School of Computer Engineering in San Jorge University has been trying to help their students achieve a high level of English.
A clear reflection of this aim is the fact the last two years of study are conducted almost entirely in English. In order to prepare the students for this methodology, they have subjects of English language in the first two years. These subjects allow them to follow other subjects given totally in English or to get an Erasmus grant without the language being a problem.
For continuous improvement in the use of the English language, the School counts on the constant support of the Institute of Modern Languages of san Jorge University.
The assessment of all the subjects is based, as recommended by the EHEA, on continuous assessment. This means that the grades of the subjects are not based on the mark obtained in a single exam. Students are required to submit and be assessed on coursework and effort. This system is based on:
In the School, we have used this kind of assessment, to a greater or lesser degree, since its beginning. This circumstance has made us a point of reference in the application of this assessment system within the Spanish university framework.
Our teaching program, which was designed jointly with the companies located in Walqa, was created to train students in the professional profiles shown in the following graph..
